thinkingCarp / Hawkhurst Venue Learning Day

New postby SteveW1805 » Fri Aug 14, 2009 12:39 pm

Hi guys,

I have successfully concluded negotiations with the owner of Hawkhurst Fish Farm to stage a Venue Learning Day. This is how it works:

It is different from our normal Learning Days in that it is not aimed at our members.
It will run from dawn to dusk.
The fishery will advertise and stage the event.
We will supply enough expert guys to go along and impart a lesson or two.
The day is proposed for Sunday 25th April 2010, and we are aiming to fill the lake - 12 swims.
thinkingCarp will offer a prize - £50 worth of bait! for the biggest fish.

Could any senior members willing to help on this day, please respond below.

I am very grateful to you.

S

Hi guys,

We are up and running with this. The advert has been placed on-site at Hawkhurst and already we have one keen attendee. Please see this link for the on-line advert:

I think this promises to be a great day for all concerned.

Hi Guys,

We have a further two attendees from Hawkhurst. Also, I am informed that Kent Tackle, which is the on site tackle shop, have offered a prize of a "Venture Standard Zip 'N' Flip System" RRP £89.99. Very good of them. I believe the item may be found here:

http://www.venturecarp.co.uk/luggagebags.html

Incidentally, Hawkhurst mentioned that some youngster may not have a complete set of gear. I said we would be happy to help, but could they please let us know before making any firm commitments, as we are not a bottomless pit. I am happy to use some of my gear to help them out - un-hooking mat, landing net etc. But we must know what they need (which is precisely nothing as I write), before we can commit.

I completely agree - I thoroughly enjoy meeting our members.

At this time I think we are probably a little short of members down Cornwall way, and it's a long haul from Essex or Kent. But I do monitor our geographic coverage quite closely, and we are gaining members from all over the country quite rapidly.

Do you have a venue in mind that would be suitable for a Learning Day?

I'll tell you what I think the best thing to do is Peter:

I will put up a "Call for a Learning Day" in the Learning Day section with details of the venue and you as the organising man. I will leave the date open, but as we get more members from your neck of the woods, we can arrange a session that is suitable to you and them.

Sound OK?

I think so Simon. It will be a bit quiet this week as the lady who informs me of attendees is on annual leave - back on 9th I believe.

By the way chaps, take a peek at this:

thinkingCarp is not only famous, but Simon and Mat have their name in lights too. And deservedly so! Well done guys.

I notice I did not get a mention  - but then I did blank :D
