Stringers

New postby tryzard » Mon Jun 29, 2009 8:18 am

Instead of using a conventional stringer try placing four or five boilies in PVA stocking (like a stick), attach it to the hook then hair rig one of the boilies through the mesh.

That way your hookbait is guaranteed to lie on the lake bed in the middle of a number of freebies.

Sounds good Alan, I can feel an experiment coming on in the pond!
I make a stringer and tie each end together, forming a circular loop if I'm trying to achieve that effect, but yours sounds guaranteed.

when you do this cowley- its doesnt make any difference! they did some underwater experiments in a magazine and all stringers end up in a line  ;) !

but this sounds like a very good idea tryzard- worth a try me thinks!

that is an excellent tip, i also add some crushed and crumb to the stocking and make sure i leave 1 whole bait near the top to hook as you said.

I make a stringer with pva tape, then in middle and bottom of stringer i attach a pva nuggett...ive found that baits split of and spread differently this way.. ;)

I do the same sort of thing but instead of adding boilie crumb I just put three boilies in the pva mesh and then crush two of them before i cast out, it keeps it all nice and small and aerodynamic.

Also if i am just using pva tape or string with a stringer I dont put nuggets betwen the boilies I put honey nut loops between them instead (its cheaper) and when they float to the surface I can catapault more freebies at them if they are within distance.
